Her training includes rain garden design and low impact development (Department of Ecology), Permaculture Design Certification (Earth Activist Training), & B.A. in Art & Design from Hampshire College. In 2014 Janaki completed an internship at Cloud Mountain Farm Center and has been a rain garden educator at various events, including the Whatcom County Master Gardeners Advanced Training. She is now an ecoPRO Certified Professional offering comprehensive design services through her business Wonder-Flora Landscape Designs. Janaki's current position as Landscape Specialist at The Willows Inn on Lummi Island, WA focuses on culinary plants and sustainable systems. |
Wonder-Flora collaborates with trusted professionals who share the Wonder-Flora philosophy to coordinate installation and maintenance of the landscapes Janaki designs. The emphasis is on a whole systems approach using sensible solutions to solve problems on multiple levels. Issues with soil health, drainage and weeds are addressed both in design and maintenance plans. The goal is to create an aesthetically satisfying landscape that moves toward a closed loop system, thriving naturally on rainfall and with minimal inputs.
